Art auction, free raffle for AMAZING horse rescue!

Journal Entry: Sat Oct 25, 2014, 1:12 AM
EDIT: Now updated with a giveaway raffle instead of features, for those that help spread the word!

Recently xXNamaste wrote a journal about a horse rescue organization which really amazed me. They're called Prince Fluffy Kareem (PFK) and are UK registered charity in Cairo, Egypt dedicated to helping the horses of Giza.

PFK holds both clinics where horses, camels and donkeys get treated free of charge, and offers fostering schemes. Since the uprising in 2011, Egypt has seen a dramatic decline in tourism, and this affects both the horses and the owners who rely on tourists for work around the pyramids. Combined with poverty, none or little education, widespread illnesses, and roughage being expensive in a desert country, the result is inadequate conditions for these animals. PFK treats various issues like colic, colds, equine malaria, saddle sores and other wounds, laminitis, and various joint-and tendon injuries. Owners are shown how to provide ongoing care at home. Fostering allows the horse to stay in PFK's stables, eat, rest and get daily treatment. Cairo is very densely populated and most working class owners don't have proper boxes or ménages; horses are usually tied up if not ridden. Fostering provides a welcome relief for both horse and owner. I have never seen recoveries as dramatic as some of these, they are seriously doing amazing work. If you have the time I suggest you go check out their site's gallery (warning, graphic before pictures of horses in very bad conditions).

The auction!

I don't have time to open commissions right now, but I need examples for when I do and this is a really worthy cause that actually made me tear up a bit, so I would like to auction off a manipulation and donate the earnings to them. I already made a small donation, but I'd like to give some more and raise awareness of this amazing charity. I'm offering one manipulation of at least the "gold" level of my usual commission package - this features as many of the following as you want:
  • up to two large (focal point) creatures (wolves, horses, felines, etc.) or one large creature which requires more hand painting than stock finding (dragons, etc.)
  • up to two optional small "accent" creatures (bird, lizard, etc.) or smaller object (lantern, jewelry, etc.)
  • full recoloring
  • dramatic lighting/effects
  • large enough for site banners or wallpaper if you want, crops for tables/ avatars, etc. on request
  • + two of the following, perhaps more depending upon the final price: wings, jewelry, horns, extra-long tail, +1 large creature, +1 accent creature, minor elemental/magical effects, armor, weapons, major elemental/magical effects, complex edited background

I'll start once the winner has paid, if they cannot (please don't bid unless you can pay!), then I'll begin to contact the next highest bidders to see if they're still interested. The winner will get updates on my progress and a chance to see a work-in-progress and give feedback along the way.

some examples of my manipulation style:

This auction will be ending on Nov 7th at 11:59 PM pacific standard time (7:59 GMT)

Starting bid: $5.00 USD
Minimum bid increase: +$2 USD
Paypal only, there is no autobuy, simply look for my comment below to bid.
Current bid - $30

Free art raffle for features!

I'm also offering an art raffle for one free bust (drawn or photomanip, winner's choice). Anyone who makes a journal about this auction and PFK,, and linking to this journal and to PFK's site will be entered. Just comment here with a link to your journal if you do to let me know. The drawing will be done once the auction is over. Thanks for helping to spread the word - and if you got to here, then thank you for reading all this! Heart

Winter | USA

Hey there, I'm Winter. I also sometimes go by Kaitlyn or Copperyn. You seem to have stumbled upon my page, thank you for taking a look! I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, but I've never been particularly serious about it, until recently (this is still debatable). I live in Oregon and attend college to study computer science, and I find that art is a rewarding way to de-stress or relax on a rainy day. I dabble in a lot of things... digital art, manipulations, photography and writing, to name a few. As you might have noticed, my gallery is mostly canines, although I'm trying to branch out a bit. My other big hobbies are gaming, computers, outdoorsy things, and roleplaying games. I can be a little blunt or ranty sometimes, but I love meeting new people, so please don't be afraid to introduce yourself.

I have a dA account for my stock photos & resources too - :iconsilent-scenes:
